It is with sad news that we report legendary actress Betty White has passed away. She was just 99 years young, and only a few weeks (January 17th) from here 100th birthday. She seemed to be in good spirits on Twitter just recently telling people she was greatly looking forward to her 100th birthday celebration.
My 100th birthday… I cannot believe it is coming up, and People Magazine is celebrating with me! The new issue of @people is available on newsstands nationwide tomorrow. https://t.co/kTQnsbMDGK— Betty White (@BettyMWhite) December 28, 2021
As if 2021 wasn’t tough enough, facing 2022 without the legendary actress seems almost like a bad omen to the start of the new year. Though she had a legendary acting career that spanned over 80 years, most people remember her probably from her role as Rose Nylund, in The Golden Girls tv sitcom that ran from 1985-1992. She was the last surviving Golden Girl, and we thought that she would live on forever, but I guess all good things do come to an end.
If you were a fan of “The Golden Girls” you remember Betty White as the naïve Rose who along with Blanche, Sofia, and Dorothy brought us comedy gold into our living room every week.
However despite ‘The Golden Girls’ going off air almost 30 years ago, Betty White continued to have a strong presence in Hollywood. She often appeared as a guest star in many comedic roles on tv shows and movies like ‘Toy Story 4’, ‘The Proposal’, ‘Malcom in the Middle’ and many more just to name a few. In fact despite her age, Betty White continued to work all the way up to her recent departure.
As of now sources tell us that she died of natural causes, and to say the world is shocked that we lost this legend at the end of 2021 is an understatement. Even though she was Betty White to the world, she will always be Rose Nylund to us 80s kids, the lovable woman from a small town of St. Olaf. RIP Betty White, you will be missed but not forgotten.
