Whatever Happened To 80s Star Danica Mckellar?

Remembering the great onscreen chemistry she had with Fred Savage in “The Wonder Years”, we all want to know what happened to Danica McKellar? Well we can tell you that she has not given up acting, in fact she still does work quite a bit.

However she has also dedicated her life to putting her prodigious mind to use in the area of mathematics. The actress has written several books and between acting gigs and her family, Danica appears to remain quite busy these days.

During the six seasons of the series (1988-1993), fans of The Wonder Years fell in love with both Fred Savage and Danica McKellar, I mean how could you not? However after that successful TV show, many wonder what has Winnie Cooper been up to anyway?

As you can imagine it would be difficult for any actor to follow up such an iconic role as Winnie Cooper. Although she did not really get another role as notorious as Winnie Cooper (I mean that’s a tough gig to follow), she did appear in quite a few movies and TV roles in various series like “Walker, Texas Ranger”, “Justice League”, “How I Met Your Mother” (being Ted’s love interest), and “The West Wing” where she played the role of Elsie Snuffin.

Between 2006 and 2007, she was the protagonist of a project called, Inspector Mom. Maddie Monroe, a housewife who, when she was not taking care of her family and cooking desserts, was dedicated to investigating cases to capture criminals. The series only had one season that had 10 episodes.

Danica also does quite a bit of work as a voice actress. She has lent her voice to famous characters from “Phineas and Ferb”, “Transformers: Rescue Bots”, “Super Hero Girls”, and most recently as Miss Martian in “Young Justice”.

But what really surprises us about her professional career did not happen in front of a camera. The actress graduated in 1998 with cum laude in Mathematics at UCLA and co-authored the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem. Danica also put her math knowledge into books, one of them called Math Doesn’t Suck, published in 2007.

She has said many times that her goal is to help young people with math and to build an interest in the field. She has written several children’s books called: Good evening, Don’t open this math book, Numbers, Math time, Bath time, and Ten Magic Butterflies.

But in addition to helping the mind, Danica got physically fit thanks to her participation in season 18 in Dancing with the stars.

The actress has always been proud and fondly remembers the series that made her known worldwide, and in 2014 she participated in a reunion with her companions Fred Savage and Kevin, Paul, and Josh Saviano from The Wonder Years.

Regarding her personal life, Danica McKellar is the mother of a child, whom she named Draco, born in her marriage to Mike Verta. She divorced in 2012 and in 2014 she found love again with Scott Sveslosky, a lawyer. Currently Danica is one of the faces on The Hallmark Channel, a cable channel where she stars in numerous family movies.
